Welcome, nice to have you here. =)

A late introduction

Postby Effi » Thu May 07, 2009 10:44 am

Hey sorry I'm so late in introducing myself on the forum, but I've spoken to most of you in the Salty Siren a few times.

I'm Effi, a 23yo student from the UK. I just quit WoW after 5years, so I'm like a headless chicken at the moment. Hoping that CQ keeps developing and I can get to know some of you better.

Though I enjoy MMORPGs I was in a fairly hardcore raiding guild whilst playing WoW and neglected RL and my GF too much. Whilst I will keep active in CQ I won't be letting it take over my life like WoW did

Glad to see you here Effi. ^ ^

We seem to be in a similar boat, although I quit a different MMO a few years ago; was also neglecting RL and the GF too much. With CQ being text-based, it's much easier to put down; just need to avoid the Salty Siren at times, or the hours will just roll by.

Hello Effi!

One of the reasons I never tried out WOW or any other MMO is because I knew it would consume me, lol

Glad to have you as a part of our guild!

Great to see you here Effi! I applaud you for not going back to those addicting games. I neglected RL and my family 11 years ago which I still feel guilty for today.

Cheers! :)

Hey Effi and welcome. Have met you already in the SS as well, and looking forward to chatting to you more.

I never went into MMORPG's or similar in the past for the reason that I knew how much time they would take up. However at my age I thought better late than never to try one out, and here I am on CQ. Did I ever pick a great one for my first! The best part of CQ is the community here, and I think we'll have a lot of fun in CQ and ToE.

BTW I am seriously tempted to try out StarQuest II when it comes out though. It looks seriously cool! Was very nearly tempted to try SQ by some workmates some years ago, but managed to resist. Probably similar to WoW in many ways...

I identify with the obsessiveness in games. I obsess on any games a bit much (even Civ3 and Spore) and have managed to avoid the major online MMORPGs. I was into Kingdom of Loathing for a few months and it really was a time suck. The good news is I've 100% given up all those damned Facebook spam games like Vampire Wars and ilk. I find that stuff repulsive now and I'm real tired of leveling by giving strangers my contact info or getting a credit report. What were we thinking?!

The GF complains about CQ because I'm tapping a button even while doing other things -- but at least I'm walking around doing something besides getting pasty and translucent!

She mostly complains because I don't do a lot of painting or writing while I'm gaming -- which is a fair and appreciated criticism. I'm hoping to bridge the gap by doing some creative stuff for the guild and maybe worldmastering some quests if Nils accepts more people.
